In an ever-mystifying NBA season, here’s a statement you didn’t expect to hear this year: the Brooklyn Nets were just what the doctor ordered to help the slumping Toronto Raptors get right.

Yet, that was the case Monday night, as the Raps snapped an ugly two-game skid out of the all-star break by demolishing the Nets on their home court.

These two teams will do it again back in Toronto Tuesday night, and the Dinos are an 8.5-point favorite.

It all gets underway at 7:30pm ET from Scotiabank Arena, and you can watch the game live of NBA TV.

Toronto Raptors Betting Analysis

With all-star Fred VanVleet sitting with a wonky knee, and OG Anunoby sidelined with a fractured finger, the Raptors were led by youngster Scottie Barnes.

In the 2022 NBA Rookie of the Year odds mix, Barnes hit his first 11 field goal attempts en route to a team-high 28 points, as Toronto routed Brooklyn 133-97. That matched the career-high total he hit just two games ago against the Hornets. Barnes also added 16 rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Malachi Flynn, stepping into the starting lineup for FVV, chipped in with 18 points, four rebounds and five assists, while also drilling 3-for-5 from downtown. Off the bench, Precious Achiuwa had 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

The Raptors built a 23-point lead at the half, and led by 31 after three quarters.

Toronto shot a blistering 51.5% from the field, while drilling 18-for-39 from downtown (47.4%).

VanVleet’s status is still uncertain Tuesday, but it appears his knee injury may take a little more time.

With the win, Toronto, sitting in 7th in the East, moved two games ahead of the 8th-place Nets.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis

Without any of their stars in the lineup, Brooklyn couldn’t mount much of an attack Monday night. While help is soon on the way, it won’t be in Toronto Tuesday.

The Nets are expecting Kevin Durant (knee) back around March 3. Ben Simmons, the key piece in the James Harden deal, is out until at least March 13 as he deals with a back injury.

Vaccine mandates will bench Kyrie Irving (Toronto and New York are the two destinations he can’t play games), and Joe Harris (ankle) is still out until mid-March.

With their depleted roster, Brooklyn shot just 33-of-84 from the field, a lowly 38.4% clip. They also turned the ball over 22 times.

Bruce Brown had 14 points, and Seth Curry finished with 11, the only two starters to score in double digits. The starting five scored just 36 points, while every Net on the roster played in the blowout, and every player had a minus rating.

Durant has now missed 20 straight games, and the Nets are 5-15 without him, plummeting from the 4-seed and in contention for the top seed in the East, to eighth, just two games ahead of both the Hornets and Hawks.

Nets vs Raptors Prediction

Toronto has flourished in the second half of back-to-backs, posting a 9-3 mark against the spread, the best mark in the NBA. At the polar opposite of the spectrum rests the Nets, who are just 1-8-1 ATS playing on no days rest.

Also in Toronto’s favor is the lessening of vaccine mandates in Ontario, which will allow for fans with no capacity limits. They haven’t had that since Dec 28 in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

This will be the fourth and final meeting between these teams this season, and the Raptors will try to  finish with another win to split the series.

At 19-13, Brooklyn does own the third best road record in the conference, including a 17-15 mark ATS. Toronto, meanwhile is 16-13 at home, the same mark against the spread. That’s the sixth best success rate in the NBA.

Even if the Raptors aren’t at full strength, and are just a game removed from two awful efforts where they were outscored by 59 points, the Nets are too shorthanded to wager on them with any confidence.

The pick: Raptors -8.5 (-110)
