Crypto.com Arena will be the scene on Thursday night for a marquee matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. The tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM EST.

The Clips have lost two of their last three and most recently fell to the Indiana Pacers on Monday night on the road. As for the Lakers, they ended a three-game skid on Wednesday at home against the Portland Trail Blazers.

This is the second meeting between the LA franchises in 2021/22, with the Clippers beating their foes in December. In fact, Ty Lue’s squad has notched four consecutive victories against the Lakers.

Lakers vs Clippers Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total Points
Los Angeles Lakers +2.5 (-110) 118 Ov 217.5 (-110)
Los Angeles Clippers -2.5 (-110) -138 Un 217.5 (-110)

The Lakers are a 2.5-point road underdog and have gone 21-30 ATS overall this season.

Daunting Schedule Ahead For Clippers

While the Lakers aren’t exactly a force to be reckoned with right now, this contest is just the first of many tough ball games ahead for LA. Following Thursday night’s matchup, the Clippers will face the Bucks, Grizzlies, the Mavericks on two occasions, the Warriors, and the Suns. Needless to say, this could honestly be the toughest stretch of their season thus far.

Unfortunately, the Clips are just 26-27 and have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Pacers clash was certainly one Los Angeles should’ve won, but they struggled to put Indiana away in the fourth quarter. Lue’s group had a four-point lead early in the final period until their defense allowed the Pacers to score 12 in a row. The Clippers never led again.

LA did receive some respectable contributions on the offensive end though, with Amir Coffey dropping 27 points to lead the way, while Reggie Jackson poured in 21. Serge Ibaka also collected 14 points and 11 rebounds. The loss simply came down to the Clips’ inability to limit Indy inside, getting outscored a whopping 68-46. The Lakers are 10th in the league in points in the paint which means they’ll need to be a lot more aggressive on Thursday.

Lakers Coming Off Gritty Win

Frank Vogel’s squad finally got back in the win column on Wednesday night against Portland, but it wasn’t easy. Without LeBron, the Lakers have been struggling to produce and that was the same issue here. It took a valiant effort from Anthony Davis, who showed out for 30 points and collected 15 rebounds. Across the last three games, AD is averaging 29.3 points per game.

Carmelo Anthony also came up big against his former team, dropping 24 on 5 for 6 shooting from downtown. LA went into the fourth quarter trailing but Davis stepped up heavily, collecting 19 of his points in that final period to will the Lakers to a much-needed win. Vogel’s team shot 37% from long range and 42% overall in the contest and although Russell Westbrook had a mere nine points, he made his presence felt from a playmaking standpoint, dishing out 13 of their 25 dimes on the night.

The Lakers will likely be without LeBron again on Thursday, who is still battling knee soreness. That being said, they will need another brilliant performance from AD while hoping the complementary pieces like Russ and Melo can rise to the occasion against the Clippers.

Clippers vs Lakers Prediction

Despite the Clips’ hot streak versus the Lakers, I’m feeling confident in AD and company. Davis is in his bag right now and I think he’s going to be able to produce the goods and lead his team to another victory here. Let’s take the Lakeshow on the moneyline.

Pick: Lakers +118
