The 23-year old kept his dreams of defending his title alive when he defeated Diego Schwartzman in just under three hours. In a match played under the lights, Tsitsipas was able to defeat Schwartzman 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-4.
There way many times throughout this match where it could’ve gone either way. Both men were playing so strong and aggressive, each point had to be fought for.
Defending champ Stefanos Tsitsipas was 6-2, 5-2 up, but then had to comeback from 0-4 down in the 3rd to beat Diego Schwartzman 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 and reach the semifinals in Monte Carlo.

The Greek didn’t come out to the best start in the deciding set, going down 0-4, after a tough second set. But he managed to find his way, and win the next six games to close out the match.
The defending champion definitely has his work cut out for him in his semifinal opponent. Tsitsipas should feel fairly good about the matchup, as they have seen each other a number of times, and Tsitsipas has found quite a bit of success against Zverev.

Zverev Wins Marathon Match
Zverev’s quarterfinal match against ninth seed, Jannik Sinner lived up to the hype, as it took just over three hours to declare a winner, as Zverev won 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(5).

With the up and down year the German is having, he was happy to come out on top in this marathon of a match. Overall, the World No. 3 has been playing well in Monte-Carlo. He hadn’t dropped a set until his quarterfinal match, and even then it was a close set.
This quarterfinal match saw 10 breaks of serve from start to finish, making it a real battle between Zverev and Sinner.
10th Meeting Between Tsitsipas and Zverev
These two know each other very well. Last year alone they played each other three times.
Tsitsisipas currently holds the edge with a 6-3 head-to-head record, but it was Zverev who won their most recent match in semifinals of the Western & Southern Open last year.
The two have played each other on clay twice before. Once in 2019 and another time in 2021. Both matches were won by Tsitsipas.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Alexander Zverev Head-to-Head Stats
Where’s the Best Bet?
This is going to be an exciting match, no doubt.
The match is sure to be filled with strong serving, aggressive baseline play, and impressive groundstrokes. You’ll see Tsitsipas and Zverev try and implement some variety into their game, but they are both the type of player that rely on their power.
Both Tsitsipas and Zverev are looking for their first title of the season, something people would think at least one of the two would’ve already captured by now. But because Tsitsipas has had a bit more of a consistent year, with a few quarterfinal, semifinal and final appearances, he looks to have the edge.
But again, you can’t count Zverev out, especially since he’s seemed to found his rhythm again, which can be dangerous for his opponents.
The smart bet here would be that the match goes three sets.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 sets (+112)
