Texas Betting Outlook

Texas hasn’t been profitable for bettors this season as it is 11-13 against the spread overall and 2-5 on the road.

However, the Longhorns are coming off the big win over Kansas in which senior forward Timmy Allen had a season-high 24 points and nine rebounds. He helped spark a 7-0 run by Texas to end the game.

Allen just missed his third double-double of the season and easily surpassed his previous season-best of 18 points. He had scored 20 points total in the previous three games.

In his first season since transferring from Utah, Allen is averaging 11.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game.

Junior forward Tre Mitchell had 17 points on the strength of 8-of-8 shooting from the foul line. That came after he combined for 16 points in the prior three games.

Senior guard Marcus Carr made 3 of 13 shots from the field but still finished with 10 points and four assists. He has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight games and is averaging 11.0 points and 3.5 assists.

Senior guard Andrew Jones also had 10 points although he missed all five three-point attempts. He matched his season scoring average.

Texas missed its first 10 shots from beyond the arc and was 3 for 20 (15.0%) overall from long range. However, the Longhorns were 20 for 23 (87.0%) on free throws.

While Kansas shot 58.3% (28 of 48), Texas offset that by turning 15 Jayhawks’ turnovers into 24 points. The Longhorns also turned the ball over just six times and held a 15-6 offensive rebounding advantage.

Baylor Betting Outlook

Baylor ended a three-game losing streak when they covered the 6.5-point spread versus Kansas State. The Bears are 13-10-1 ATS in 2021-22 and 7-6 at home.

Baylor could get sophomore guard LJ Cryer, its leading scorer, back after he missed the last four games with a foot injury. Cryer is averaging 13.9 points.

Junior forward Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua led the way on Wednesday by scoring a season-high 21 points in 24 minutes off the bench. He made 9 of 10 field goal attempts.

Senior guard James Akinjo atoned for a dreadful performance in the previous game by contributing 15 points, eight assists and three steals. That came four days after he went scoreless in a loss at Kansas, shooting 0 for 11.

Akinjo leads the Big 12 with 5.6 assists a game and is 17th nationally. His 2.2 steals a game are second in the conference.

Junior guard Adam Flagler scored in double figures for the sixth straight game and 14 times in the last 15 games as he had 10 points while making just 1 of 6 shots beyond the arc. He is averaging 12.7 points and 3.3 assists.

Freshman wing Kendall Brown has a 10.0 scoring average.

Baylor made just 4 of 17 (23.5%) three-point attempts but held Kansas State to 38.9% (21 of 54) from the field and forced 15 turnovers.

Baylor was down 20-13 early but pulled into a 32-32 halftime tie. The Bears then took control of the game with a 19-4 run to start the second half, giving them a 51-36 lead.

Texas vs Baylor Prediction

Baylor has dominated the series recently by winning four straight and 10 of the last 11. In the last meeting, Baylor won 83-69 on Feb. 2, 2021, despite Jones having 25 points, five rebounds and three assists for Texas.

The Ferrell Center is a tough place to play, and series history is on Baylor’s side but the Longhorns are rolling.
