As expected, Nadal is the favorite heading into this final match.

Nadal is Undefeated in 2022

The 35-year old is having a tremendous start to the year, as he’s yet to lose a match, and went on to win the Australian Open.

The Mexican Open is the first tournament he’s playing in since winning the Aussie Open in January, and he’s been playing near perfect. In his four matches, he has yet to drop a set, and is barely giving his opponent’s any opportunity to build momentum in the match.

In the semifinals, he upset first seed Daniil Medvedev, winning 6-3, 6-3, and improved to 14-0 on the season.

Everything was working for him in the match. Despite Medvedev’s 10 aces to Nadal’s two, Medvedev wasn’t able to touch the Spaniard.

He’ll now look towards his final opponent, Norrie, who is also having an impressive week as well.

Norrie’s Eight Match Win Streak

British No. 1 Norrie kept his win streak alive when he went on a defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets in the semifinals, winning 6-4, 6-4.

The Brit had a less than ideal start to the year, but has been able to turn in around since the Australian Open, reaching at least the quarterfinals in every tournament since.

The 26-year old then captured the title in Delray Beach, and has clearly shown that he was able to carry the momentum into the Mexican Open.

In his semifinal match against Tsitsipas, the Greek didn’t have an off day, he was playing well. Norrie just simply outplayed him, and was more strategic with his placements.

Now, for his toughest match of the tournament, Norrie will go head-to-head against Nadal. Unfortunately, Norrie has yet to find success against the Spaniard, but there’s a first time for everything.

Fourth Meeting Between Nadal and Norrie

These two have played each other three times before, with their most recent meeting happening at the 2021 French Open. Nadal leads the head-to-head 3-0.

Nadal’s the Best Bet

This isn’t the match to bet against Nadal.

Yes, Norrie is playing very well, and has had a strong week at the tournament. He’s earned his spot in the final, and it was well deserved. Nadal just seems a bit untouchable at the moment.

For Norrie to have a shot, he’ll have to make little to no mistakes in the match, and minimize any unforced errors.

But just acknowledging the form and play that Nadal is bringing to the court right now, it’s hard to imagine him not winning tonight.

Best Bet: Nadal 2-0 (-215)
