Fairfield is favored by 5.5 points in a game available on ESPN3 and, as a -250 moneyline favorite, has an implied win probability of 71.43%. Neither squad features in the NCAA Tournament odds at this stage of the season, and likely won’t unless they win the MAAC Tournament and gain the conference’s auto-bid into the March Madness bracket.

Manhattan Betting Outlook

Manhattan also ended a four-game skid against the spread as it was a 4.5-point underdog against Quinnipiac. The Jaspers are 10-11-1 ATS this season, including just 4-7 on the road.

Senior forward Jose Perez continued his high-volume scoring with 21 points and five assists. The MAAC’s leader in scoring and assists has tallied at least 20 points in five of his last six games and reached that mark 12 times this season after transferring from Marquette.

Perez is averaging 19.6 points, 4.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds. His 43.4 field goal percentage is fifth in the MAAC.

Another transfer from a Big East school, senior forward Josh Roberts, matched a season high with 20 points on 10-for-10 shooting from the field and pulled down seven rebounds. He played at St. John’s last season.

Roberts helped Manhattan shoot a sizzling 67.3% (33 of 49). The Jaspers were 6 for 14 (42.9%) on three-point tries while holding Quinnipiac to 38.3% (23 of 60) from the field.

The defensive effort was encouraging. Manhattan is 309th in the country in KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency, allowing 109.3 points per 100 possessions.

Senior guard Ant Nelson also had a torrid shooting game as he was 6 of 7 overall and 3 of 3 on threes to finish with 15 points. He added four assists and three steals.

He is Manhattan’s second-leading scorer with a 10.4 average and is registering 1.8 steals a game.

Senior forward Elijah Buchanan contributed 10 points and six rebounds. He has scored in double figures in six straight games after doing so just five times in his first 17 games.

Fairfield Betting Outlook

Fairfield is 14-10 ATS in 2021-22 but just 4-7 at home. The Stags have dropped three of their last four against the number after failing to cover as six-point favorites against Canisius.

Senior guard Jesus Cruz scored a career-high 25 points to lead the way. His previous best this season was 16.

Cruz made 9 of 12 field goal attempts and was 5 of 6 on three-pointers. He has scored in double figures in back-to-back games for just the second time this season.

Senior guard Taj Benning added 17 points to lift his average to 11.3. Although Benning leads the team in scoring, it was just his second double-digit total in the last six games.

Fairfield got 10 points and eight rebounds from sophomore forward Supreme Cook, right in line with his season averages of 10.0 and 8.2. He is second in the conference in rebounding.

Senior guard Jake Wojcik has a 10.4 scoring average.

The Stags pulled out the win in the final seconds of overtime. Senior guard Caleb Green broke a 76-76 all tie on a jumper with 13 seconds left then junior guard Jalen Leach added two free throws to seal it.

Fairfield shot 50.9% (27 of 53) and drained 9 of 22 (40.9%) from beyond the arc. Canisius was just 4 of 17 (23.5%) on triples.

Manhattan vs Fairfield Prediction

The teams are meeting for the first time since Fairfield edged Manhattan 59-58 in overtime in the first round of last year’s MAAC Tournament in Atlantic City.

Cruz scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Stags and Wojcik added 15 points. Nelson had a double-double for the Jaspers with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The longtime rivals have split their last 26 games. However, look for Fairfield to get the better of Manhattan in this one liked it did March as the Stags seem to be building some late-season momentum.

The Pick: Fairfield -5.5 (-110)
