If you’re betting on this sport for the first time then why not take a look at our soccer betting’s pros and cons, as there are plenty of directions you can go when betting on this game and others like it.

Narrow Win for City Over Atleti

Man City comes into this game in good shape after a 1-0 win in midweek in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Atletico Madrid. While it may only be a slender lead, it still gives City a great opportunity to progress to the last four of the UCL and go another step closer to an outstanding EPL, UCL, FA Cup treble.

The win over Atleti was hard-earned, and for long periods it looked like ending goalless, but with 20 minutes remaining a perfectly timed and weighted through-ball from Phil Foden gave Kevin De Bruyne the chance to fire City ahead.

Minor Dip but Title Now on the Line

While City’s dip at the turn of the year was a relatively minor one, it was enough to throw what looked almost certain to be a sixth Premier League title into the melting pot. All it took was a surprise home defeat by Tottenham and draws with Southampton and Crystal Palace, for Jurgen Klopp’s men to close the gap to just a point. City now have work to do.

However, that one-point lead, if they manage to avoid defeat on Sunday, remains significant as it means that their fate remains in their own hands. And if they do manage to get the win, a four-point lead with just seven games to go would be a great position to be in.

Reds With One Foot in UCL Semi

Liverpool too had midweek success in the UEFA Champions League but, unlike City, already has one foot in the semifinals thanks to a thrilling 3-1 away win in Lisbon over Benfica. With the Portuguese team generally regarded as the weakest team left in the competition, Jurgen Klopp was even afforded the luxury of resting Jordan Henderson and Diogo Jota and still watched his team win with room to spare.

The evening in Lisbon got off to the perfect start for Liverpool with Ibrahima Konaté giving them a 17th-minute lead, with Sadio Mane making it 2-0 before the halftime whistle. The Portuguese side rallied in the early stages of the second period and pulled one back through Darwin Nunez but Luis Diaz made it 3-1 with three minutes remaining.

Quadruple Still On for Klopp’s Men

The win in Lisbon has kept alive the Reds’ hopes of winning an unprecedented quadruple – they already have the EFL Cup in the bag after a dramatic penalty shootout win over Chelsea – and their form has been relentless in 2022. Even the international break has not hindered their winning habit.

Even when not at their free-flowing best – like against Watford last weekend – the Reds have developed a healthy habit of finding ways to win games, and it’s this, along with an iron will to win, that has dragged them back into the title race.

Manchester City vs Liverpool Picks

With so much at stake here, it is conceivable that this could be a game where the two teams cancel each other out. A draw would keep alive the title hopes of both teams and so, for me, with the tension level sure to be up to 11, there is value in betting on the draw.

Picks: Man City and Liverpool to draw (+270)
