McCollum Continues to Thrive With Pels

New Orleans made a big move at the trade deadline to acquire CJ McCollum from the Portland Trail Blazers and so far, it’s seriously paid off. In five games with the team, CJ is averaging a whopping 29 points, six rebounds, and 5.2 assists on a 41% clip from downtown. At the moment, those are career-highs.

That being said, the Pels guard has comfortably hit the over in points in all five outings, scoring 30+ in each of his previous three contests as well. On Friday night, NOLA rolled into Phoenix and ended the Suns’ eight-game winning streak, with McCollum erupting for 32 points. It’s clear that he’s really flourishing with his new squad and with the over/under set at 24.5, all signs point to another big night for him on Sunday, especially considering they’re playing a poor defensive team in the Lakers.

Barrett Makes it Rain

RJ Barrett is coming off a career performance on Friday as he showed out for 46 points, becoming only the second Knick ever to collect 45+ at the age of 21-years-old or younger. While New York did end up losing to the Miami Heat, the Canadian was thriving in every way imaginable offensively. However, the focus here will be Barrett’s three-point shooting.

The Knicks youngster went 6 for 11 from downtown, draining countless big triples, whether they were of the catch and shoot or pull-up variation. That was his first game since the All-Star break, but Barrett also hit the over in treys in the last contest prior to the festivities in Cleveland, draining 4 of 6 against the Denver Nuggets.

After such a brilliant night, there is no doubt Barrett is going to be extremely confident here. The Sixers are certainly no easy opponent and they could do a very good job containing him, especially the likes of Matisse Thybulle. But, the over in threes at the very least is still worth a shot considering how efficient he was from beyond the arc just two days ago.
