How to Bet on Curling

The simplest and easiest way to bet on curling is playing the moneyline on a game. Online betting sites will also offer wagering on the total number of points to be scored during a match. The Canada-Italy total is set at 12.5 points. Bettors are wagering on whether the two countries will combine to go over or under that total.

A third option is called handicap betting. This is similar to point spread wagering in football. Favorites are indicated with a minus number. In this particular game, Canada is a 2.5-point favorite. Betting the Canadians means they’d have to win by at least three in order to cash a winner.

Futures betting is also available on the World Curling Championship. Canada is the +110 chalk to win the 2022 world title.

Canada Unhappy With Play

The Canadian rink is Gushue backed by Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant and Geoff Walker. Despite their unblemished mark in the standings, they’re disappointed with their shotmaking performance thus far in the event.

The heat in Las Vegas is impacting ice conditions. It’s making for inconsistencies in the curling of the rocks. All four of the players in the Canadian rink are shooting barely over 80%. That is extremely poor at the elite level of the game.

Nonetheless, they are drawing upon their experience to figure things out. So far, it’s working. Canada’s Gushue, the 2017 world champion and 2006 Olympic gold medal winner, beat Switzerland 10-6 to improve to 4-0. Previous matches saw the Canadians defeating the Czech Republic 6-4. Scoring two in the 10th end, they were able to rally past Norway 8-7. Canada was also outscoring the Netherlands 9-6.

What is the LGT World Curling Championship?

The LGT World Curling Championship annually brings the 13 best curling nations on the planet together in competition for global honors. The event is played at a different location every year. Rinks must first be winning their national championship in order to qualify for the Worlds.

Sweden’s Niklas Edin is the three-time defending champion and currently Olympic gold medalist but he’s off to a 1-2 start in Las Vegas. Italy’s Retornaz scored four in the 10th end for a 10-8 victory over Edin. The Italians are among five teams in a tie for second at 2-1.

Where Can I Bet on Curling?

With Ontario becoming the first province to offer licenses to privately-operated online sportsbooks as of April 4, the Canada sports betting landscape is changing, and that’s good news for curling bettors.

Several sites are embracing the nuances of the Canadian market and providing betting lines on curling. Among the sportsbooks offering wagering on curling are Bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings and PointsBet.
