They’ll seek a third straight win to wrap up their 4-game set in San Diego against the Padres, a team that has dropped four of their last five.

It all gets under way at 7pm ET from Petco Park, in a game that can be seen live on ESPN.

With Yu Darvish on the mound for San Diego, the home team are pegged as -130 favorites on the moneyline.

Probable Pitchers

The Braves will trot out righty rookie Bryce Elder, who will look to improve on his 1-0 mark to start the season.

He got a win in his first career big-league start, going 5.2 innings in a 16-4 drubbing of the Washington Nationals.

He surrendered six hits and gave up three earned runs, including a pair of homers, but he did strike out four batters and didn’t issue a walk.

Elder vs Darvish 2022 Stats

1-0 Record 0-1
4.76 ERA 10.57
1.06 WHIP 1.83
.273 OBA .276
N/A SO/W Ratio 0.83

Yu Darvish will be looking for his first win of the season, and a bounce-back performance after getting shelled last time out against the San Francisco Giants.

The righty surrendered nine earned runs on eight hits, and lasted just 1.2 innings. He also gave up a home run, walked two and hit another batter, while striking out two.

He was much better in his first start this year, going six innings without giving up a single hit, striking out three and walking four in a no-decision in a what turned out being a 4-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on opening day.

Braves vs Padres Betting Analysis

In what’s already been such an electric career, star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr remains sidelined as he recovers from wrist surgery.

Even then, Tatis Jr still has +4000 odds in the 2022 ML MVP odds, the same odds as Braves’ second baseman Ozzie Albies.

Way up the top of that list? Atlanta’s Ronald Acuna Jr, who currently sits in second with +750 odds.

Both teams are hitting middle of the pack: the Braves are in 14th with a .238 average, while the Padres are in 16th, hitting .237.

Last game out, Matt Olson was one of three Atlanta batters to go yard, as the Braves won their second straight game by a 5-2 score. Ian Anderson got the win, allowing just two hits and fanning seven in 5.2 innings.

Albies was one of the stars in the second game of the series, homering for a second straight game, while Adam Duvall broke a tie game open in the eighth with a 2-run double.

San Diego kicked off the set — also the Padres’ home opener — with a 12-1 pounding. Joe Musgrove got the win going six innings, striking out six with no walks.

Manny Machado was the offensive driving force, going 5-for-5 with a pair of RBI’s, four runs scored and two stolen bases. Eric Hosmer had four hits, while Luke Voit drove in three runs.

Atlanta Braves vs San Diego Padres Pick

Atlanta is just too talented to not get things rolling. Their MLB win total is higher than 90 in the National League — only the Mets and Dodgers share such a distinction.

They own the 5th-best World Series odds, while the Padres own the 10th-best title odds.

The Braves have moved to fifth in runs scored and third in home runs. Their pitching will need to catch up to their hitting soon, though: Their team ERA of 4.85 is 25th in the bigs.

San Diego is middle of the pack in ERA, ranking 17th at 4.03. Their hitting matches up with Atlanta, as they’re sixth in runs scored, though they’re only 17th in home runs.

Look for Darvish to bounce back, and for the Padres bats to test Elder, who didn’t face any true pressure pitching situations in a blowout win last time out.

Pick: Padres ML (-130)
