Odds as of Apr 06 at FanDuel Sportsbook

Trae Young’s Hawks finally had their winning streak snapped on Tuesday night in Toronto, but they continue their fight for seeding in to the NBA Playoffs Bracket tonight as they host the Wizards.

Young Drains His Threes

Trae Young has made over 3.5 threes in four of his last six games. Young is also facing a Washington team which ranks 27th in defense since the All-Star break, and recently gave up over 23 threes to the Celtics.

Shooting over 37% from three over his last ten, the All-Star guard is averaging over nine attempts per game. He’s been playing some of the best basketball of his career over the last few weeks, and Atlanta has plenty to play for with Play-In seeding up for grabs.

The Wizards are expected to name a relatively strong group for this game, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the team from the capital dive deep into its bench on Wednesday night. Washington, like so many teams, has no answer for Young, who has been torching far better defenses than the Wiz possess.

While Washington doesn’t give up a lot of threes, their poor defense and Young’s track record over the last month or so makes over 3.5 threes a very solid bet at plus odds.

  • Pick: Trae Young over 3.5 made threes (+126)

Brown Stays Hot as a Scorer

Jaylen Brown’s points line is set at 25.5 for Wednesday night, a mark he’s passed in five consecutive games and eight of his last nine. Brown, like Young, has a favorable matchup in a Bulls defense which ranks 24th since All-Star and remains without Lonzo Ball, who likely would have spent a lot of time guarding Brown.

Brown had 19 and 28 in his previous matchups with Chicago. Only a minimal amount can be read into those games, of course, given the transformation that has taken place with the Celtics over the last few months. Perhaps a blowout is the biggest threat to Brown putting up big numbers here. Even so, the Cs heavily beat the Wizards last time out and the star wing still dropped 32 on 17 shots.

This seems like a pretty obvious over to back. Brown has averaged 27.4 points per game over his last 10 appearances, shooting 55.1% from the field and over 47% from three over that period.

  • Pick: Jaylen Brown over 25.5 points (-106)
