The NBA Playoffs continue on Monday night with three games, starting with the Sixers hosting the Raptors at 7:30pm ET. Philadelphia is 1-0 up in the series after a Tyrese Maxey gem in Game One, and is favored by 7.5 points in Game Two.

Up second, it’s Dallas hosting the Utah Jazz, who are road favorites thanks to Luka Doncic’s injury. Doncic isn’t expected to play in Game Two, putting Utah in a great position to go 2-0 up in the series before returning to Salt Lake City.

It’s a late one for east coast fans with a 10pm ET tip-off between the Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets. With Jordan Poole starring in Game One, it’s no surprise the Dubs are comfortably favored here.

Odds as of Apr 18 at FanDuel

As one of the frontrunners in NBA MVP odds, Joel Embiid once again has the highest points line of the night at 32.5. The Process, however, was held to just 19 points on 15 shots in Game One.

Maxey Stays Hot from Three

Exploding for 38 points in the series opener, Tyrese Maxey got up 21 attempts from the field, including eight from three. That made it four games in seven that the second-year guard has hit three or more treys.

Maxey’s development as a shooter was the foundation of his Most Improved case. He’s gone from non-threat on the perimeter to an over 40% guy, knocking down outside shots off the bounce and thriving as a catch-and-shoot option, which has been particularly useful since the James Harden trade.

The Raptors are throwing bodies at the Harden and Joel Embiid two-man game, giving Maxey countless opportunities to get his own offense.

Having made four of five threes in the final regular season matchup with the Raptors, Maxey is up to nine-for-13 from downtown against Toronto over the last two.

Such efficiency is unsustainable long-term, but the way Toronto is defending Philly’s biggest names allows Maxey plenty of good outside looks. The injury to Scottie Barnes takes away one long defender that could swarm Maxey’s shots, too. We like this over at plus odds.

  • Pick: Tyrese Maxey over 2.5 threes (+118)

Brunson Runs the Offense

Jalen Brunson’s usage rate increases from 22.5% to over 26% without Luka Doncic. He assists far more, seeing his assist rate climb into the mid-30’s. Brunson wasn’t at his efficient best in Dallas’ Game One loss, but he still put up 25 points and five assists, taking him easily past this points and assists line.

Not only is Brunson carrying a hefty offensive burden in Doncic’s absence, but this matchup with the Jazz should work in his favor. The Mavs rarely get to the line, and while they must be aggressive as a team on Monday night, part of the reason they don’t draw a lot of fouls is because of Brunson’s love of the mid-range.

He ranks in the 97th percentile in mid-range frequency, a shot type that is particularly effective against the Jazz’s drop coverage.

A low-scoring Game One might push bettors to look towards the unders here, but this number seems low given how much heavy lifting Brunson has to do as both a playmaker and scorer without Doncic.

With his mid-range game limiting Gobert’s effectiveness, Brunson can take advantage of Utah’s porous perimeter defense — he had a 27-point outing against the Jazz when Doncic was out earlier this season.

  • Pick: Jalen Brunson over 27.5 points & assists (-125)
